Ingredients for the Spicy Meatballs
750g mince meat
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp dried coriander
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1/2 cup crumbed feta
2 tbsp chopped parsley
2 tbsp chopped rosemary
1 large garlic clove crushed
1 tbsp chilli flakes
4 tbsp chutney
1 red onion chopped
1 cup red wine
1 tin peeled & chopped tomatoes
1 packet tomato puree
Preheat the oven
Preheat your oven to 180 degrees celsius.
Seasoning the mince meat
Add the mince meat to a large mixing bowl and add the cumin, dried coriander, salt & pepper, crumbed feta, chopped parsley, chopped rosemary, and half of the red onion. With your hands, mix all the ingredients into the mince meat.
Roll the mince meat mixture into golf size balls and place into a casserole dish.
Searing the meatballs
Add some olive oil to a frying pan and turn the heat to high. Once the oil is nice and hot, add the meat balls to the pan and fry for 2-3min to seal in the flavours. Place them back on the casserole dish and set aside.
In the same frying pan, add the rest of the red onion, chili flakes and garlic and fry until the onions become soft.
Once you have finished frying the onions, chili flakes and garlic, add to the top of the meatballs in the casserole dish.
For the sauce
In a large bowl, add the red wine, tinned tomatoes, tomatoe puree and chutney and mix all together.
Pour the sauce on top of the meat balls.
Place the meatballs in the oven for 30min.
Once 30min has elapsed, remove the meat balls from the oven and serve with your favourite pasta!
