Cooking Time 45min – Serves 4
Ingredients for the Beef Lasagne
1kg beef mince meat
2 cups cheddar cheese
2 tbsp butter
1 finely chopped onion
1 crushed garlic clove
3 tbsp flour
1 sachet tomatoe paste
Salt & pepper
Oil for frying
1 can of italian style tomatoes
Pre heat the Oven
Pre heat the oven to 180 degrees celsius.
The Mince Mixture
Heat the olive oil in a frying pan, and add the onions. Fry until golden brown. Then add the crushed garlic and stir. Once thats mixed together, add the mince and stir until the mince changes colour.
Once the mince has changed colour, add the canned tomatoes & tomatoe puree and stir until all combined.
Next, add salt, pepper, thyme and the brown sugar and give it a good stir!
The Cheese Sauce
Add the butter to a bowl and melt in the microwave. Add the flour and whisk together. Then add the milk and whisk it further. Place in the microwave for 4 min. Remove from the microwave, whisk it, and place back in the microwave. Repeat until you get a thick consistency. Add salt to taste.
Next, add half the cheese to the sauce and stir until the cheese and melted right through.
Time to Assemble
Start with a layer of mince and spread it evenly. Add lasagne sheets on top of the mince. Add cheese sauce on top. Repeat until you end off with the mince on top.
Sprinkle the top with the remainder cheese. Allow the dish to rest for 30min so that everything can soak in well.
Place in the oven at 180 degrees celsius for about 40min.
Serve with a side of salad.
